Sunscreens

Sunscreens are important for so many different reasons. They come in all shapes and sizes, scents, application varieties, and even colors. But no matter which type you choose, don’t leave the house without wearing any.

The most important reason for using sunscreen is to protect the skin from harmful sun damage that can cause serious health problems like skin cancer. Simply applying sunscreen daily can provide vital protection from the UVA and UVB rays of the sun. It’s an easy procedure that can truly save a life. And that isn’t even the only benefit from wearing sunscreen.

Oprah Winfrey once called sunscreen the “miracle anti-aging cream,” and she was right. In addition to potential health problems, sun damage can also cause unwanted physical changes that aren’t harmful, but still very undesirable. Effects like sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles, and peeling can occur from unprotected exposure from the sun. Protect your health and your youthful, beautiful skin by applying high SPF products everyday!

Sunscreen use is often associated with many common misconceptions. Some people believe that you only need it when it’s hot, sunny, and when you’re going swimming or to the beach. Those types of days are crucial moments to whip out the high SPF sunscreen, but everybody should be using sunscreens, or at minimum, a moisturizer with a slight SPF component, daily. The sun’s harmful rays are still there even if it is cloudy and even if you are not wearing a swimsuit. Protection on your face is especially important because clothing almost never protects it.

For high exposure days, when you know you’re going to be under the beating hot sun for a long period of time, don’t forget all parts of your body. Lip balm with SPF can protect your lips, and don’t forgot to rub some sunscreen on your ears and even your scalp if you think any part of it will be exposed. Safety first!
